Crafting quality rugs since 1958.
Koshani’s story spans three generations and two continents — from a family workshop in Kabul to one of North America’s trusted wholesale rug houses.
A family of rug-makers.
From hand-knotting in Kabul to designer-led collections shipped across North America, every Koshani rug carries three generations of know-how — an obsession with quality, texture and timeless design.
Three generations, one craft.
- 1958
Founded in Kabul
Koshani is founded in Kabul, Afghanistan by Homayoun Sahel and his father. Their commitment to handmade rug artistry sets the foundation for our legacy.
- 1978
Exporting to the world
Koshani becomes one of Afghanistan’s leading handmade rug export houses, shipping to major cities around the globe.
- 1996
A chapter closes
Unprecedented times in the region bring our Afghan operations to an end — but not the family’s craft, or its resolve.
- 2003
A new beginning in Canada
The family rebuilds from the ground up, opening a retail store in Toronto and reintroducing Koshani quality to a new continent.
- 2009
From retail to wholesale
Koshani transitions to wholesale, embracing Turkish manufacturing techniques — blending traditional craftsmanship with modern efficiency.
- Today
A family business, still
Koshani is led by Homayoun’s four children — Romi, Nigina, Waise and Qais Sahel. The dedication to quality and design remains unwavering.

Woven for a lifetime.
Modern manufacturing with a traditional sensibility — designs developed in-house and made to hold their colour and texture for years on your clients’ floors.
Three generations of craft, one promise.
Our legacy is built on the trust and satisfaction of our partners. Join us on this journey of craftsmanship and quality.
